Front
The front features a cut panel showcasing the stunning coastline of Jiwani at sunset. In this scene, a traditional Deewan (gathering) is depicted: a poet sits with a book in hand, reciting verses, surrounded by four individuals from various Balochi tribes. Beside the poet is a clay pot (matka) and a glass of water, representing simplicity and hospitality, while a camel rests peacefully on the shore. In the background, two young Balochi boys prepare traditional flatbread, reflecting the essence of cultural heritage. Above the panel, a stitched piece of fabric displays the word “Vshey” (a term symbolizing care and well-being), while just below the collar, the phrase “Kaya hast mani gham?” (Who carries my sorrow?) is elegantly written, adding a poetic layer to the design.
Back
The back features a split full-panel artwork with a stitched canvas patch, narrating a story of separation and longing. The design portrays a lone figure walking away with a camel, leaving behind people, belongings, and memories, symbolizing the emotional and physical distances created in modern life. The canvas patch enhances the design with its textured, raw aesthetic, adding depth and authenticity to the artwork.
To highlight the effort of reconnecting broken ties, the two split sections are joined with yellow cross-stitching, creating a visual metaphor of mending and rebuilding relationships. At the bottom, the word “Deewan” is screen-printed, emphasizing the importance of gatherings in Balochi culture, where people share poetry, stories, and ideas.
Sleeve
The sleeve design incorporates two cut panels featuring Balochi poetry alongside its translation: “Everyone is bound by their desires.” This poetic line encapsulates the universal human condition, adding a reflective and philosophical layer to the design. The placement of these lines on the sleeve complements the overall artistic narrative, making the design a blend of cultural richness and contemporary relevance.
